Profile: The DevOps Engineer, AWS will report directly to the Product Development and Data Operation Manager for Hawthorne Advertising. This position will be responsible for the maintenance, upkeep, and enhancements of the agency’s computing infrastructure across the AWS Cloud including code construction and testing of software that integrates AWS systems with Hawthorne proprietary applications. This position will be initially responsible for developing a new React client for Web API software. Employee will work closely with Technology teams (Data Science, Information Services, and IT) to understand current infrastructure demands, forecast future requirements, and propose and implement solutions required by the teams as well as other internal/external stakeholders.
Qualifications:
· AWS: 2+ years experience using a broad range of AWS technologies (EC2, RDS, ELB, S3, CloudWatch, Step Functions) to develop and maintain an AWS-based cloud solution, with an emphasis on best practice scalability, uptime, and security.
· DevOps: Solid experience as a DevOps Engineer with automation experience (Jenkins, Github).
· Database Administration: Strong experience in administering databases including SQL Server and Postgres for performance and security.
· Coding: Strong coding experience in Python and/or C# plus React.
· Operating Systems: Windows and Linux system administration.
· Monitoring Tools: Experience with system monitoring tools including CloudWatch
· Problem Solving: Ability to analyze and resolve complex infrastructure resource and deployment issues.
Desired Skills (Not essential, but beneficial to have):
· .NET development background
· Agile methodologies
· Experience with version control such as Git and GitHub
· Experience with analytic tools like Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, and Matomo
· Experience with reporting tools like PowerBI and Tableau
Role Accountabilities
· Maintain and enhance Hawthorne Advertising’s cloud computing infrastructure.
· Work with Technology teams to understand current infrastructure demands, forecast future requirements and propose and implement modifications to support teams and other stakeholders.
· As the database administrator, oversee maintenance and enhancement of all Hawthorne data stores.
· Work with various security tools to ensure Hawthorne's IT infrastructure remains secure and fully-optimized.
Responsibilities:
· Actively administer, maintain, and develop Hawthorne's Amazon Web Services resources and infrastructure.
· Advise, develop and support integration of AWS services with Hawthorne proprietary applications.
· Provide DevOps support to the company's cloud resources, advising on and implementing the scaling out new infrastructure and network configurations.
· Work with various security tools to ensure Hawthorne's IT infrastructure remains secure and fully-optimized
· Assume network administration and network engineering duties.
· Assist in the administration of SQL databases, tables, views, queries, stored procedures, functions, and other items to be used for visualization, analytics, and intelligence insights for employees across departments.
· Perform React development to support existing and new software.
· Provide insight into current and future technology plans
